The word to know today
Conjunction
The meeting of two planets at the same degree of the zodiac. The medieval writers called it a joining by body, as against the aspects, which join planets at a distance.
Six minutes after 13:00 UTC, two bodies share the same degree of Aries. The Moon, at nine degrees of the sign and ninety-six percent lit, comes to Saturn at 13:06 UTC, a day and a half short of full.
A conjunction is the meeting of two planets at the same degree. The medieval writers called it a joining by body, to set it apart from the aspects, which join planets across a distance of the circle. Guido Bonatti, in thirteenth century Italy, kept the two apart when he described a void Moon as one joined to no planet, by body or by aspect.
Saturn makes a poor partner today. He was the greater malefic of the old scheme, cold and the slowest of the planets, and Aries is the sign of his fall, where the tradition held him at his weakest. Bonatti counted a joining with Saturn or Mars, by body or by hard aspect, among the ways the Moon comes to be ill-affected.
The Moon holds no dignity of her own in Aries. She is peregrine, a guest in the sign of Mars, and Mars is her host. She reaches a trine with him at 22:06 UTC, the two bodies a third of the circle apart, Mars at fourteen degrees of Leo. The full Moon follows on Monday at 04:11 UTC, in Taurus.
By then Saturn is already five degrees behind her.
